Summit Land Conservancy, a nonprofit land conservation organization based in Park City, Utah is looking for an energetic team-player to serve as our AmeriCorps Intern for 2019. The AmeriCorps Intern will be responsible for assisting the Education and Outreach Director with spring and summer outreach programs. From late May to early June, the member will help lead Kids Outdoors, a program that partners with local elementary schools to bring low-income and at-risk children to protected open space for free play. During the summer, duties will mostly consist of assisting and leading Outdoor Explorers and Little Explorers Summer Camps which introduce children to different adventure and recreation activities while teaching the values of stewardship. In addition to children’s programs, the AmeriCorps Intern will be asked to assist with various other outreach programs such as our guided Moon Shine Adventure hikes, guided Hops Hunters hikes, and tabling community events. Other responsibilities will include working with volunteers and partner organizations, media communications, attending events (some weekends and evenings) and general office work. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are required. A college degree is required, as well as reliable transportation. The AmeriCorps internship runs for 450 hours, to be completed by the end of 2019. The internship pays a bi-monthly living allowance and an education award after completion of service. AmeriCorps requires completion of a USU online Environmental Education course, and may offer other benefits (subsidized housing, food stamps, etc.).
Interested candidates should send resumes and a cover letter to the Education and Outreach Director, Caitlin Willard, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
